Why include career communication in your strategy roll-out?
How powerful would it be if we could get everyone – not only those people who want to move up the ladder – to link their contributions to the business strategy also with achieving their own aspirations? Arguably, we don’t need everyone to aim for the same career-upward path. What we do need is for all employees to feel they can achieve their aspirations and that by working towards a common goal (the business strategy) they can reach their career goals, too. We believe (and are seeing!) that these aims can be achieved in parallel: by applying strategy communication in a way that directly links the business strategy to what individuals want out of their current roles, and how it will allow them to employ their talents, as well as how it will help them achieve their (longer-term) aspirations.
